Toledo Spitfire

The Toledo Spitfire is a women’s professional football team from Toledo, Ohio. The squad plays in the National Women’s Football Association (NWFA). This league formed in 2000, although its first regular season did not occur until 2001. The league is the largest and fastest growing women’s professional tackle football organization in the world.

The Spitfire joined the NWFA for the 2003 season as an expansion team. The squad has struggled in the league, failing to yet achieve a winning season. In 2003, the team won two and lost six games, and in the next season, the Spitfire won three games and lost five. The team finished fourth in its division each of its first two seasons. In the 2005 season, the squad failed to win a single game, finishing last in the league.
