Toledo Jim White Chevrolets

From Ohio History Central

The Toledo Jim White Chevrolets was a professional basketball team in Toledo, Ohio. It played in the National Basketball League, which formed in 1937. In 1949, this league joined with the Basketball Association of America to form the National Basketball Association.

The Toledo Jim White Chevrolets was named for a Toledo automotive company, which was headquartered in Toledo. The team played for less than two seasons (1941-1942). During the 1941-1942 season, the Toledo Jim White Chevrolets finished last in the National Basketball League, with a record of three wins and twenty-one losses. The team began the 1942-1943 season winless in its first four games. Because of this poor beginning and a declining number of men available to play due to World War II, the Toledo Jim White Chevrolets ceased operation on December 14, 1942. With the Chevrolets’ demise, only four teams remained in the National Basketball League.
