From Ohio History Central
The Wray figurine depicts a man, possibly a Hopewell shaman, wearing a bearskin complete with the animals head. It was found in 1881 when workmen were removing the foundation of a building. It is believed to be a Hopewell artifact because it was found in Newark, Ohio, not far from the Newark Earthworks built by the Hopewell. It was named for its former owner.
