Portrait of inventor Thomas Alva Edison, ca. 1920 - 1929. Edison was born in Milan, Ohio. He gained fame as an inventor, registering a total of 1,093 patents for such innovations as the incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, and the moving picture camera.
