Description

The black racer snake, (Coluber constrictor constrictor,) is found in southern and northeastern Ohio. The Blue Racer (Coluber constrictor foxi), a close relative, is found in western Ohio. The snake averages 36 to 60 inches in length. In 1995, the Ohio legislature named the black racer the official state reptile.
