Columbus Invaders

From Ohio History Central

The Columbus Invaders was a professional indoor soccer team from Columbus, Ohio. The team originally was known as the Canton Invaders, which played its home games in Canton, Ohio. Both the Canton and Columbus Invaders played in the National Professional Soccer League.

Following the 1995-1996 season, the Canton Invaders relocated to Columbus. The principal reason for this move was declining fan support. The Columbus Invaders disbanded after the 1996-1997 season for the same reason that the team relocated from Canton. In the team’s only season in Columbus, the Invaders won five and lost thirty-five matches, while playing in the American Conference’s Central Division of the National Professional Soccer League.
