<p>Today, archaeologists generally would consult Ohio tribes before conducting an archaeological investigation of an ancient burial site. Since the enactment of the Native American Graves Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) in 1990, museums and cultural institutions are required by law to consult with Federally-recognized American Indian nations across the United States regarding human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and other culturally significant objects to the native nations.</p>
