Edward N. George Jr.
Also known as Eddie George
Edward (Eddie) Nathan George, Jr., was born on September 24, 1973, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a football star at the Fork Union Military Academy. In 2001, George enrolled at The Ohio State University, where he played running back. In his senior season, he won the Heisman Trophy, the Doak Walker Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, and the Maxwell Award. This season he rushed for 1,927 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry, and twenty-four touchdowns. George returned to Ohio State in 2000, and he earned his degree in landscape architecture.
In 1996, the Tennessee Titans (then the Houston Oilers) drafted George. He played for the Titans from 1996 to 2003, winning the National Football League's (NFL) Rookie of the Year Award in his first season. In 2000, George helped the Titans reach the Super Bowl. In 2004, George joined the Dallas Cowboys. In his professional career, George has never missed a game due to injury. In his first nine years as a professional player, George rushed for 10,441 yards and sixty-eight touchdowns.
